Genuine connection is what I always seek out. I find myself worrying less and less about trying to take great images. Instead, I spend more energy trying to know people. Trying to see what it is about them that makes them special. What it is that makes them tick. What they are all about. It’s real connection, and genuine honesty that yields great images. Every. Single. Time. Recently, I ducked down to Melbourne and spent a morning with the wonderful Khoo family… I spent the morning getting to know them, and during that time, I happened to shoot some images. I came away, knowing that I had been able to connect on a real and genuine level. Knowing that I’d learnt about what was important to these guys, what was special in their life, and what we shared in common. And you know what… I also came away with some great images as well. I always do. Images that captured who they are. Images that captured heart and soul. Images that tell a story… That is what it’s all about.
